40 Persons Affected By Cholera In Adamawa State

A cholera outbreak has been declared by the Yola-North Local Government Area’s administration in Adamawa.

It further states that 36 more people who were impacted by the outbreak are undergoing treatment at several local hospitals, and that the disease has claimed the lives of four people.

Jibrin Ibrahim, the chairman of the council, told reporters as much on Sunday when he was visiting the sufferers at the Infectious Disease Centre (IDC) in Yola.

He claimed that the Alkalawa, Ajiya, and Limawa wards in the vicinity have records of the outbreak.

“In the morning, there were at least 20 victims reported; however, as of right now, there are over 40 cases, with four fatalities.”

“A significant proportion of them have been stabilized as a result of the healthcare professionals’ attention,” he stated.

Mr. Ibrahim was grateful for the quick action taken by medical personnel, the Red Cross, and foreign partners.

He states that tainted water from localized flooding is the cause of the possible outbreak. He urged people to wash fruits and vegetables before eating, make sure they drink potable water, and maintain a clean environment.
