40 Year Old Man Hangs Himself In Jigawa State
Jibrin Adamu, 40, committed suicide by hanging himself in Jigawar Maroka village, Kiyawa Local Government Area, Jigawa State.
This was confirmed by DSP Lawan Shiisu, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), in a statement on Friday in Dutse. DSP Shiisu stated that the deceased, who had a history of mental illness, carried out the act on Thursday evening.
“On September 19, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a report reached the Command headquarters that Jibrin Adamu, aged 40, of Jigawar Maroka village, Kiyawa LGA, had taken his life by hanging in a classroom at Miftahul Khairat Islamiyya and Primary School, Gurdiba,” Shiisu said.
Adamu was suffering from periodic mental health issues, and preliminary investigations revealed that he would often disappear for days before returning home.
When they arrived, they discovered Adamu’s lifeless body hanging from the ceiling of a classroom in the Islamic school.
The body was later transferred to Dutse General Hospital, where a medical professional confirmed his death. The remains were then given to his family for burial.
He had left his house not long before he passed away, supposedly to go get water close to the incident site. Ahmadu Abdullahi, the Jigawa Commissioner of Police, has mandated a thorough examination of the case’s circumstances.
