Arsenal Manager, Arteta Issues Injury Update On Odegaard

Despite worries that central midfielder Martin Ødegaard could be out for weeks, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has refused to rule out starting the captain for Sunday’s north London derby against Tottenham.

Ødegaard hurt his ankle sprain earlier this week when playing for Norway in the international arena. At first, it looked like he wouldn’t be able to play in the Champions League away against Atalanta or the Premier League on September 22 against Manchester City.

This news was made public on Friday by statements from the club’s website. To ascertain the full nature of the injury, Arteta—who inked a new three-year contract on Thursday—stated that more testing was necessary.

“Let’s see what happens in the next day or so, we need some more tests,” the Spaniard remarked at his press conference.

“There is no doubt that he is willing. He wants to be at every game, especially one as important as this one, but we have to find out how fit he is first.

“Let’s see what happens, but players with 48 hours to go are always available.”
