Manchester City Host Arsenal In Premier League Title Showdown This Weekend
In a match between the top two, Arsenal’s immovable object in defense and City’s unstoppable force in attacker Erling Haaland will square off.
With four games played thus far this season, Haaland has already scored nine goals, a Premier League record.
However, Arsenal has only let a lead slip once, against Brighton when reduced to 10 men, and has previously maintained clean sheets away at Tottenham and Aston Villa.
Those spots are already occupied by the top two from each of the previous two seasons.
“They’re a fantastic team that plays excellent defense,” stated Pep Guardiola, the manager of City. “They don’t give up goals or opportunities.” They have complete control over everything in numerous ways.
“They are there and will be there for many years because they created a depth of squad and a young team, which was the biggest challenge for the title the last two seasons.”
The only team with a perfect 12 points thus far is City, but a weakened Arsenal ensured they are only two points behind by defeating Spurs 1-0 in the north London derby last weekend.
Due to an ankle injury, the Gunners will once again be without captain Martin Odegaard; however, Declan Rice will be returning from suspension.
Additionally, Kevin De Bruyne’s limping out of Wednesday’s 0-0 Champions League match against Inter Milan means that City will be without their creative hub.
