Abuja Medical Center Approves Com’ttee On Kidney Transplant
A steering committee on kidney transplants has been established by the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Abuja, as part of efforts to manage the nation’s growing kidney failure cases.
The chairman of the group of eminent medical professionals is Dr. Ernest Aniede, a leading consultant nephrologist. The FMC’s public relations officer, Mr. Obadiah N.K. Gana, revealed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
According to the statement, the committee’s formation is a proactive response to the rising number of renal disease-related mortality in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the nation as a whole.
“The FMC is taking steps to address the lack of competence, even though treating kidney-related illnesses, notably transplants, is expensive.”
