OACPS And Nigeria Renews Partnership In United Nations Meeting
This was stated at a high-level OACPS meeting that was chaired by Angola by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who is speaking on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
On Tuesday, the Vice President emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to the organization’s goals while addressing urgent domestic issues.
“Nigeria remains a principal partner of OACPS, championing our shared values of democracy, diaspora engagement, and development.”
“Our presence here at the UN General Assembly allows us to amplify these priorities on the global stage and explore avenues for deeper collaboration,” the Vice President noted.
“We’re here to set the record straight and engage in constructive dialogue with our international partners,” Senator Shettima said, taking advantage of the chance to address Nigeria’s recent inclusion on a high-risk jurisdiction list due to worries about money laundering.
The Vice President reiterated Nigeria’s backing for OACPS endeavors, encompassing the group’s emphasis on the persistent issue in Haiti.
He emphasized Nigeria’s historical contribution to South-South cooperation while also appreciating Kenya’s 400-troop assistance to Haiti.
Vice President Shettima continued, “Our technical aid corps program, which has sent teachers and doctors to the Caribbean, exemplifies Nigeria’s commitment to uplifting fellow OACPS nations.”
Vice President Shettima presented Nigeria’s plan to use its largest population to advance the interests of the Organization of African Communities (OACPS), encourage equitable treatment in global financial systems, and fortify relationships with both developed and developing countries.
“We’re representing Nigeria’s interests while also championing the collective voice of the OACPS. President Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria aligns closely with the OACPS agenda.
In today’s interconnected world, our success is intertwined with that of our partner nations,” Vice President Shettima emphasized. Earlier, OACPS Secretary-General Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti praised Nigeria as “a motor of the OACPS and an important member state.”
Chikoti stated that the meeting’s goal was to strengthen cooperation with Nigeria and thanked the country for its significant contributions.
The Secretary-General conveyed faith in the UN’s engagement and dedication to helping member nations dealing with diverse issues. Additionally, he emphasized the significance of fortifying alliances between the European Union and OACPS member states, emphasizing the need for vital cooperation in fields including infrastructure, business development, education, and the environment.
