Police Investigates Officers Who Extort N1m From Youth Corper
A social media user named Oluyemi Fasipe posted videos of the encounter between the officers and the corps members on Friday night, claiming the officers had taken N1 million from the members.
“Dear @BenHundeyin, Your officers today in Surulere extorted 1 million naira from three corps members,” he wrote.
“They were kidnapped, threatened with firearms, and taken to the KAFARU OLUWOLE TINUBU HOUSE AREA C POLICE COMMAND of the @LagosPoliceNG where they were robbed. Their offense was the absence of a physical copy of a driver’s license.
This is evil!”
Police officers were seen looking through the documents of the car’s occupants in one of the videos.
Later, when things got heated, more cops were called to the scene. Later, when they were being asked to stop filming the incident, a cop was seen getting inside the automobile.
Furthermore, he forbade them from contacting their loved ones. The men’s trial has begun and they have been summoned. However, the persons engaged in the event have been summoned, according to Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command.
“The men have been called in, and their trial has begun,” he commented on Fasipe’s post on X. “We implore the complainants to come to the State Headquarters and testify in the current trial at the Complaint Response Unit.”
