APC vs Amaechi
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has come out swinging against former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, accusing him of inciting the public with “false empathy and incitement to violence.”
The APC spokesperson, Festus Morka, slammed Amaechi’s comments about Nigerians not protesting the “high cost of living” as “hypocritical, provocative, and dangerous.”
Morka went on to launch a blistering attack against the former governor, pointing out that Amaechi has been a “parasitic dependent”
Morka’s diatribe continued, stating that “for almost all his adult life, Amaechi has been a parasitic dependent on state resources, a voracious beneficiary of official patronage, and a leading participant in the generational devastation of our country’s economy.”
The APC spokesperson didn’t hold back, suggesting that if all political leaders are considered “thieves,” then Amaechi, who has held various positions of power since 1999, would be included in that group.
Morka also took aim at other prominent political figures who have held elective positions in the past but have been critical of the current administration.
“These naysayer tribesmen, who did absolutely nothing to improve the economy or living conditions for Nigerians while they were in office, now pontificate endlessly about what should be done but didn’t and couldn’t do while in power,” Morka said, referencing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party candidate Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The stinging rebuke by the APC is just the latest in a string of political battles unfolding in Nigeria, with various parties and figures jostling for power and influence.
The ongoing economic crisis, coupled with the fallout from the recent presidential election, has created an increasingly volatile and unpredictable political environment in the country.
