Bauchi State Govt Set To Revitalize Boarding Schools

The six boarding schools that were de-boarded because of poor enrollment have been offered a chance to be revitalized by the Bauchi State Government.

Dr. Jamila Muhammad Dahiru, the State Commissioner of Education, revealed this information on Sunday when touring the six schools in the Dambam Local Government Area for inspection.

The Commissioner clarified that Sen. Bala Mohammed, the state governor, had given the Ministry instructions to strategically identify the schools in need of full facility building, repair, and rehabilitation in order to guarantee a welcoming atmosphere for children.

She said that the Federal Ministry of school’s Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), a World Bank-assisted project focused at enhancing secondary school prospects in the nation, will accomplish this.

As per her statement, “Our main objective for this inspection visit is to evaluate the level of readiness in light of Governor Bala Mohammed’s authorization for the re-boarding of approximately six schools.”

“We can say that it has been a successful visit because at each school we visited, we engaged with the community,” the Commissioner said.

She pointed out that the majority of the schools she visited had existing infrastructure that could be modified and used efficiently to welcome back the pupils.

Jamila Dahiru noted that a few state schools had been de-boarded due to poor enrollment. But she went on, “You can see that they have learned from their experiences and realized they were lagging behind from the community’s enthusiasm.”

“Now you can see how willing they are to mobilize and sensitize their communities to enroll their children,” the Commissioner added.

They even requested this help in writing to the Ministry. “Moreover, these schools serve more than just the communities in which they are located; the Ministry of Education will make sure that students are assigned to these locations in order to increase enrollment,” the speaker added.

The Deputy Chairman of Dambam Local Government, Mr. Iliya Isa, expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed and the Education Commissioner for attending to their needs in his vote of appreciation. He also pledged to organize community members for an enrollment drive.
