Edo Election: PDP Asks Electorate To Defend Their Vote
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has tasked its members and supporters to arm themselves with all essential self-defense mechanisms to protect their will and our democracy on Saturday, less than 72 hours before the Edo State governorship election.
Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has caused Nigeria to descend into abject poverty and that Asue Ighodalo’s candidacy gives Edo State a route to redemption.
The PDP’s spokesman, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, told reporters during a Wednesday interactive session that the party and the people of Edo State would not stand by and let the APC scare them.
The party stated that although the PDP and the people of Edo State support peace.
However, if the APC wants trouble, they will fight back, head-to-head and with overwhelming force, using all legal weapons and means of democratic resistance to ensure that no one undermines the will of the electorate at the polls.
The PDP warns in no uncertain terms that any APC goons, phony, or compromised security personnel will henceforth know that ‘Edo no bi Kogi’ if they try to kidnap any innocent Edo State citizen, try to steal a vote box or provoke any kind of crisis during an election.
Therefore, the PDP orders all of its members and supporters in Edo State to prepare for the election.
They ought to arm themselves with every self-defense tool required to protect their autonomy and our democracy.
“All PDP members and sympathizers are instructed to bring enough food, water, medication, mats, extra clothing, smartphones, and other necessities to their designated polling places.
“They should vote quietly, obediently to the law, and prepared to defend their votes,” the statement reads. The party stated that after casting their ballots, voters should remain put and make sure that their ballots are counted and the results are immediately uploaded before departing.
