Federal Government Declares Monday Public Holiday
In honor of Eid-ul-Mawlid, the Federal Government has proclaimed Monday, September 16, 2024, as a public holiday. The Holy Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birth is celebrated on Eid-ul-Mawlid.
Within a statement released on Friday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the federal government’s proclamation was made by Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
He congratulated the Muslim Ummah on this momentous occasion, but urged them to take use of the occasion to pray for long-lasting peace and a wealthy, equitable society.
The minister pushed for patience, selflessness, and resiliency among Muslims and all Nigerians.
