In a bid to restore unity and stability to the beleaguered Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a former National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, has called on the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, to step down from his post.
Ologbondiyan, in a recent interview, asserted that Damagum’s resignation would pave the way for much-needed reforms and ease the ongoing conflicts within the party.
In line with previous demands from party members, the former PDP spokesperson emphasized that Damagum’s proximity to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was incompatible with the PDP’s role as a strong opposition party.
Furthermore, Ologbondiyan advocated for the appointment of a new national chairman from the North-Central region, stating that this would address the region’s long-standing grievance of being denied the position since the suspension of Iyorchia Ayu.
