In Kirikasamma Local Government Area of Jigawa State, seven people have reportedly died and several others were hospitalized due to suspected cases of gastroenteritis.

According to Musa Abdullahi Diladige, the Primary Healthcare Coordinator for the local government, the disease has affected several communities, including Malori, Maikintari, Dilmari, Kirikasamma, and parts of Baturiya village.

Muhammad Maisamari, the head of the Department of Water and Sanitation, announced that a medical team has been sent to the impacted areas to offer essential medical care.

Idris Gambo Abubakar, the acting chairman of the council and director of administration and general services, promised to offer all the support required to stop the disease’s spread.

“Health officials are keeping a close eye on the situation and are working hard to contain the outbreak and stop more deaths,” he stated.

Additionally, for urgent curative efforts in the afflicted areas, the local government council has purchased medications and other associated treatments.

At the time this report was filed, attempts to contact the state’s commissioner of health by phone and message had been unsuccessful.
