Akinade Matthew, a farmer in the Irewole local government area of Osun State, has raised the alert after herdsmen damaged five hectares of maize and cassava. Akinade told newsmen that herders invaded the farm in Ikoyi last week.

“The herders destroyed all of the maize and cassava crops that were about to be harvested. When I arrived at the farm, there was neither maize or cassava.

“I have expended a lot on this farm from clearing, cutting of trees, planting, workmanship, and others.”

“I am not sure if Amotekun operatives are still in place in Osun State because they it will take hours before the perpetrators are caught.

The farmer appealed with the Osun State Government, specifically Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Commissioner of Agriculture, to assist farmers in the agricultural sector.’
