‘I Have Never Suggested To Be Vice President To Anyone ‘ – Peter Obi
In a sequence of tweets on Saturday, Obi refuted reports that he has consented to run for vice president in the 2027 elections via his official X account.
He says that, in contrast to what has been reported, he is still devoted to the Labour Party and that anyone seeking to work with them must be honest about their goals.
He made it clear that while he is committed to seeing Nigeria grow, he is not in it for the presidency or any other office. Obi declared that he is prepared to collaborate with anyone who share his goals for furthering Nigeria’s development.
The former governor of Anambra State claims that he does not want to be among those thinking about 2027 while Nigerians are facing urgent issues like hunger, poverty, insecurity, and other hardships.
“I have received a ton of calls and concerns about the interview that I gave to News Central TV,” he stated.
I seized the chance to go into great depth about my stance during that interview. But some fifth columnists have turned to misinformation, purposefully twisting the story.
“Let me state unequivocally what I already said, which is documented. I don’t want to be among people thinking about 2027 when there are urgent issues facing Nigerians, such as hunger, poverty, and insecurity.
“I made it clear that I was willing to collaborate with others as long as their goals did not revolve around capturing the state. I underlined that I’m dedicated to working with people who share my vision to further Nigeria’s development.
The former governor reaffirmed his commitment to the Labour Party and to getting millions of kids who are not in school back into classrooms.
Additionally, I stated unequivocally that I am still devoted to the Labour Party and that anyone who wants to engage in dialogue or work together must be upfront about their genuine goals.
If I choose to run for any office in 2027, it won’t be with those whose only goal is to capture the state or simply win an election.
“I want them to outline our plans for making sure that no child is left behind, reintegrating millions of out-of-school youth into the educational system, promoting healthy lifestyles, and helping people escape poverty.
“I am genuinely surprised by the misrepresentation of my words, as my statement was unambiguous.”
To clear up any confusion, I have never explicitly said to anyone that I would serve as vice president. “I have always said that I am willing to collaborate with anybody who are devoted to creating a new Nigeria.
He continued, “My dedication to Nigeria is unwavering, and I even think it is possible to contribute to its advancement without holding any office, as I currently do.
