Usman Discloses Reason Why He Joined Famous Political Party

Usman, who spoke as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today program on Wednesday, claimed that a great deal of “scheming” prevents ministers from carrying out the several reforms they vociferously advocated for prior to being appointed.

“You try a lot of things, but the political system is set up in a way that makes it very difficult to get things done properly,” he remarked.

Public servants are employed to safeguard the public interest; however, a great number of them—politicians, members of the National Assembly, executives, civil servants, and so on—tend to prioritize their personal interests over the interests of the public.

Gazing back, Usman stated that in order to be confirmed as a minister at the time, he had to fly to his hometown in Kano State to join the ruling party.

For instance, someone informed me the day I was named minister that I needed to register as a political party member in order to be confirmed as a minister.

“I had to run to my ward in Kano to register because, at the time, I was not a member of any political party.

Additionally, the Senate has standards that must be met before you can be confirmed. The purpose of the anecdotes I shared was to emphasize how difficult it is to be a minister and never seem to be getting things done.

No, regrettably, you have to deal with certain political matters, with all of their cunning. The former minister claimed that getting senators from his state to back his nomination during the higher parliamentary chamber’s screening process required some effort”

Pay close attention to what the president has planned. Since you are an appointment of the president and do not work for yourself, it is important that you ensure that the tasks you are performing are the president’s and not your own. Usman said, “If you follow through on that, you’ll succeed greatly.”
