Kaduna Police Arrest Alleged Armed Runner, Discovers AK-47
The command’s spokesperson, Mansir Hassan, said in a statement on Friday that Bitrus Gyang, a suspect from Barkin Ladi, Plateau state, was captured in Buruku, Igabi LGA of Kaduna.
Hassan mentioned that Gyang was taken into custody on Thursday as police were conducting a routine check at Buruku Bridge.
The spokeswoman continued by saying that Gyang acknowledged participating in the trafficking of weapons and having transported fake guns on at least three different occasions when he was questioned.
“During a routine patrol at Buruku Bridge on September 19, 2024, at approximately 1600 hours, officers from Buruku Division intercepted a black Golf III saloon vehicle,” the statement reads.
Twenty (20) locally manufactured AK-47 rifles and an empty Type 06 magazine stashed in the vehicle’s boot were found by the officers after a thorough examination.”
“The suspect is assisting the investigation at this time, and efforts are being made to capture his accomplices.”
Hassan added that the state commissioner of police, Ali Dabagi, had complimented the cops on their commitment.
He gave the people assurance that Kaduna state will not provide a safe haven for criminals, including kidnappers and bandits.
