Kwara State Family Charged To Court Over Student’s Death

Pastor Adebayo Adeniyi (51), his wife Bukola (49), and their son Joshua Happiness were charged with four felonies: criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, theft, providing false information, and causing the loss of evidence.

The accused were arraigned on the charges. The woman was allegedly killed, according to the Police First Information Report (FIR), by the student who hired her to appear as a girlfriend at a scam party in exchange for N15,000.

“Happiness, the pastor’s son, killed Mojisola and left her lifeless body in the hotel room. He then locked the room and fled with Mojisola’s iPhone 11 Pro and her N15,000 after purposefully luring her from Offa to Ilorin.”

“During the investigation, he claimed his father had given him the go-ahead to lie and claim he threw the stolen iPhone into Afelele Lake, Offa, but it turned out that his parents had taken the SIM card out of the said iPhone, wrapped it in paper, and hidden it in the block of a fence of a building far from their residence, where it was later found by the police,” the part of the sheet stated.

The accusations were refuted by the defendants. Barr Iwalaye, the defendants’ attorney, begged the judge to give the accused people bail. The case was postponed until September 12, 2024 by Magistrate Wahab Saka, who also ordered their remand at the federal jail centre in Ilorin.
