Labour Union And FG Sign MoU Regarding New Minimum Wage

According to a statement released on Friday by the Office of the Head of public Service of the Federation and signed by Eno Olotu, Head of Information and Public Relations, the committee on public servant wages has decided that the new minimum wage will take effect on July 29, 2024.

The resolutions made at the conclusion of the committee’s Friday meeting in Abuja included the agreement.

The committee recommended that the pay award, which the Federal Government terminated, be paid until July 28, 2024, according to the statement.

The committee, chaired by Didi Walson-Jack, the Federation’s Head of Civil Service, observed that the administration took the nation’s economic climate into account when making decisions.

Following the signing, Walson-Jack, who also served as the Committee Chairman, gave a speech in which he thanked the members for their meticulous work on the given assignment.

The HCSF stated, “The Government and the Trade Union have reached a consensus over the Salary Adjustments that will result from the implementation of the new N70,000 minimum salary.

She also said that each member had given the MOU some thought and had signed a copy. They then turned the papers along to the representatives of the opposing parties to wrap up the process.

The signed copy of the MOU will now be sent to the Federal Government for additional action, she said, calling the assignment the shortest and most peaceful negotiations to date.

The Joint Negotiating Council’s National Chairman, Comrade Benjamin Anthony, spoke on behalf of the trade unions and praised the HCSF while expressing pleasure with the committee’s efforts.
