Lagos State Closes Churches Who Engage In Noise Pollution

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and several other establishments have been closed by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) due to noise pollution.

The agency said in a post on its X handle on Wednesday that it has intensified its efforts to combat environmental violations and noise pollution by closing down establishments throughout Lagos.

The agency enforced its mandate to protect public health and ensure compliance with environmental laws by targeting locations in Ikeja, Mushin, Gbagada, and Maryland.

The establishments affected by the operation include Vital Products Limited, A & P Nigeria Limited, Polite Anchorage and Suites, the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Terrag Inn Apartment, Evening Class Guest House, Celestial Church of God, a printing press, Charley’s Bar, and 7th Heaven Hotel & Suites.

LASEPA claims that these companies were found guilty of breaking environmental laws in spite of the agency’s repeated warnings.

Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, General Manager of LASEPA, reiterated the organization’s unwavering position against environmental noncompliance.

Declaring that every establishment must respect its environmental duties to create a cleaner and more sustainable Lagos, Ajayi said, “We will not tolerate non-compliance with our regulations.”

In order to protect public health, Ajayi emphasized that companies must work with the Lagos State Government to enhance the environment. She also emphasized the significance of following the state’s environmental regulations.
