NAFDAC warn Against Use Of Fake Condoms
In a recent announcement, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) warned Nigerians about the illicit sale and distribution of an unregistered brand of condoms, Foula Condoms, in several parts of the country.
The agency, in its statement, reported that its Post-Marketing Surveillance officials uncovered Foula Condoms (packaged in sets of three) in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State and Zango, Katsina State during a Risk-Based Post Marketing Surveillance study on registered condoms in Nigeria.
NAFDAC emphasized that Foula Condoms are not registered for use in Nigeria, and the product’s labeling is not in the English language. This presents a potential health hazard as improper use of condoms may lead to unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections.
