NMA Seeks Sanwo Olu Intervention On Issues at LASUCOM
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been requested to step in to resolve the current conflict between the administrations of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, and Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), Ikeja, by the Lagos State section of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).
As a result of the events, Abiodun Adewuya, the current provost of the medical college, was recently announced to be under interdiction by Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, vice-chancellor of the university, who is also a professor. Due to accusations of insubordination and unauthorized publication of official information, LASU stated on Sunday that Mr. Adewuya has been placed under interdiction.

In a letter to the governor, NMA voiced worry over the ongoing disciplinary procedures, including interdiction against college provosts, under the signatures of its Secretary, Hassan Jimoh, and Chairman, Saheed Kehinde, respectively.
The scenario “is getting worrisome and smirks of some lingering ego and turf war in the relationship between the university and the college leaderships over time,” the statement read, denouncing the interdiction of Mr. Adewuya by the administration led by Mrs. Olatunji-Bello.
According to NMA, Mr. Sanwo-Olu’s swift involvement was the only way to stop the issue from getting worse.
