Nollywood Actress, Joke Silva Calls For Removal Of Sexual Harassment In Nollywood
At the Women in Film and TV Conference on Wednesday in Lagos, Silva, the President of the Forum of Women in Film and TV, Nigeria, made this statement.
“Women’s contributions to the film industry are crucial to the development of our country, so a secure and supportive atmosphere is essential for our success.”
“Sexual harassment in the film business ought to end in all its manifestations since it has unimaginable negative effects on the country.”
“It’s also critical that we eliminate all negative stereotypes from movies that depict certain things in a way that isn’t actually the case. More women in the government are also necessary for policymaking.”
In addition, Powerhouse Global Magazine’s life coach Anita Duckworth-Bradshaw urged women who had experienced abuse in the profession to come forward in order to aid in their recovery.
She said that if the victim was able to move past their past trauma, it would guarantee that they made a significant shift in the business.
“We need to start talking to address the issues and aid in the healing process because women have suffered a great deal of harm.
In order to really commit to the industry, we need to work through our hurt and make sure that we share our suffering with others in order to reduce our mental burden.”
