Oluremi Tinubu To Lead National Prayer
In a powerful display of interfaith solidarity, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu have called upon the Nigerian populace to join in a national prayer session to seek divine intervention for the country’s complex challenges.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, Chief Segun Balogun Afolorunikan, Director General of the National Prayer Forum, underscored the importance of unity in overcoming the nation’s struggles, emphasizing that through collective action, Nigerians can find enduring solutions.
“Our nation is in dire need of God’s wisdom and strength to defeat our common enemies,” Afolorunikan stated, expressing his belief that the prayers would inspire leaders and citizens alike to find the determination to confront the nation’s challenges and bring about stability.
In a move that signals a deep commitment to diversity and inclusion, Muslims will gather at the National Mosque in Abuja for seven days, while Christians will congregate at the National Ecumenical Centre for a week-long prayer session, with individuals from different denominations coming together in the spirit of unity to pray for Nigeria’s well-being.
“The power of prayer is a potent force that can heal our nation’s wounds, unite our people, and bring about the change that we all desire,” Afolorunikan emphasized, adding that the prayer sessions will bring together thousands of believers across different faiths, symbolizing the true strength of Nigeria’s diverse population.
“We have reached out to Muslim, Christian, and traditional leaders, including the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Sultan of Sokoto, to join us in this endeavor,” Afolorunikan said.
The organizers of the prayer sessions remain undeterred in their commitment to finding a peaceful solution to the nation’s problems, emphasizing that faith-based unity is crucial in creating a stronger, more resilient Nigeria.
Afolorunikan concluded, “The upcoming prayer sessions will be a momentous occasion, not just for Muslims and Christians, but for all Nigerians who desire a better tomorrow. Let us come together, united in faith and purpose, to seek the divine intervention that will heal our nation and guide us towards a brighter future.”
The first lady’s involvement in the national prayer session is a powerful gesture that embodies the essence of the initiative: the belief that, in the face of adversity, the strength of our unity will prevail.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s presence, alongside other dignitaries, is a call for all Nigerians to unite in faith and prayer, setting aside their differences in pursuit of a common goal: a peaceful, prosperous, and harmonious nation.
