A brewing controversy within the ranks of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has erupted as the party summons former Rivers State Governor and current Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, over allegations of anti-party activities.
According to PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, Wike has been instructed to appear before the Tom Ikimi-led disciplinary committee established by the party’s National Working Committee to address the issue of anti-party activities and sabotage.
Abdullahi, speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program, also expressed disappointment in Wike’s remarks during the recent PDP Congress in Port Harcourt, where he threatened to cause political upheaval in the states of any PDP governors who attempted to meddle in Rivers State affairs.
Furthermore, Wike’s public endorsement of the Tinubu administration, despite being a prominent member of the PDP, has further fanned the flames of controversy, with Abdullahi stating that “we were not expecting him to say that, and to be honest with you, we are not with him on that.�
The ongoing tussle between the PDP and Wike highlights the precarious political landscape in Nigeria, where party loyalty and individual ambition are often at odds.
