“People Wish My Success Didn’t Come Fast”- Rema Claims

Rema boldly asserted his claim to a place next to the “Afrobeats Big 3,” which is the moniker used to represent the three of Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy, on both his EP “Ravage” and his recently released sophomore album “HEIS.”

Rema said in a recent interview on The Breakfast Club that because he hasn’t been in the industry for ten years, some people might be hesitant to accept his assertions that he is on par with the “Afrobeats Big 3”.

In response to criticism that his swift ascension was facilitated by the popularity of his record-breaking single “Calm Down” with Selena Gomez, Rema stated, “I think the success came too quickly that some people wish I didn’t get it too quick.”

“I don’t think my career played by the rules when they said you have to be in the game for ten years to get respect.

After only three years in the game, I was already smashing records that were seven years old,” Rema continued. Rema said, “With respect to the OGs, but I am one of them…,” in response to the question of whether he thought he should be ranked among Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido.

Rema discussed his second album, “HEIS,” in the interview, stating that it was inspired by his desire to challenge the current quo.
