Police Arrests Three Individuals Engaging In Yoruba Nation Protest In Osun State

Three alleged Yoruba nation agitators have been paraded by the Osun State Police Command due to their purported secessionist intent.

While promoting Yoruba Nation membership, the accused, Fagbuyi Oluwafemi, 61, Joy Faseyeku, 63, and Alabede Janet, 64, were taken into custody at Obada Market in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area, Osun State.

The command’s spokesperson, Emmanuel Giwa-Alade, made this announcement on Wednesday in the state capital of Osogbo.

The statement claims that an Oodua Nation flag, a tripod, a megaphone, two cell phones, handbills, and a cap with an inscription honoring Yoruba Nation were found with the suspects, who were a male and two women.

The statement said: “On August 27, in Obada Market, Ikire, one Fagbuyi Oluwafemi, a 61-year-old man from Akure, Ondo State, was detained for encouraging marketers to embrace and support the Yoruba Nation.

He called on market vendors to renounce their national allegiance to Nigeria.The suspect stated that after 100 years of union, the entity known as Nigeria came to an end in 2014 and flew the flag of the Yoruba Nation.

Following a preliminary inquiry following his detention, the case was forwarded to the State Criminal inquiry Department.

After a thorough investigation, two women were apprehended in relation to the crime: Joy Faseyiku, 63, and Alabede Janet, 64, in Osogbo and Ikire town, respectively.
