Private University, Babcock Graduates Over 90 New Doctors Today
A group of recently trained medical physicians were graduated on Tuesday from Babcock University, located in Ilisan-Remo, Ogun.
At the university’s ninth induction ceremony, which was conducted on campus, the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Dr. Fatima Kyari, who was represented by Prof. Olusegun Akinyinka, administered the oath of loyalty for the 93 individuals in total, inducting them into the medical profession.
After spending six years at Babcock, they were beaming with pride and smiling, expressing that their induction ceremony had been a dream come true.
The MDCN registrar addressed the new recruits, who included Treasure Nnaji, the best-graduating student with nine distinctions, and no fewer than 25 others who earned distinctions in various courses. She urged them to stay.
She insisted that they understand that engaging in unethical behavior is prohibited in the medical industry and that any practitioner who violates the code of ethics of the association would face appropriate repercussions.
Thus, you have to push yourself. You have gained knowledge, but now is the time to really apply that knowledge. “I implore you to make integrity your guiding principle.
You have to have the proper mindset, work hard, and, if needed, always get a second opinion. Furthermore, make sure you avoid corruption in any way. Set a good example for others, show compassion and love, and always keep patient information completely private.
“Therefore, make sure you follow the rules of the highly regulated profession when practicing.”
Additionally, the registrar urged them to make sure they returned home and continued to advance the medical field, even if they chose to pursue further education overseas.
She remarked that since it would be extremely expensive to teach them here in Nigeria, they have to consider converting the brain drain phenomenon into brain gain for the country.
According to her, Nigeria is in dire need of individuals who can make a major contribution and advance the country significantly in a variety of disciplines.
The registrar expressed gratitude to Babcock University for showcasing first-rate human and material resources in the medical and health sectors.
Prof. Ademola Tayo, the president and vice-chancellor of Babcock University, had earlier stated during his welcome speech that everyone of the graduates had received extensive training, the necessary knowledge and abilities, and strong character to assist them thrive in their chosen disciplines and other respectable endeavors.
He congratulated them and their parents on their achievement and advised them to continually strive to save lives and make a positive contribution to society instead of compromising standards.
He also urged students to be brave, persistent in their search for fresh information, and trustworthy, kind, and truthful in all of their interactions.
He claimed that not just Nigeria but the entire world is waiting on their contributions to the medical and economic fields.
