This heinous incident was brought to light when the victims’ parents, Victoria Livinus and Kauna Stephen, reported the matter to the police station, leading to the suspect’s immediate arrest.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, the suspect confessed to the crime, revealing that he had been seduced and engaged in sexual activities with a 38-year-old woman since he was just 13 years old.
This disturbing revelation not only highlights the need for increased awareness and prevention of sexual abuse against children, but also raises questions about the level of oversight and supervision in the community where this incident occurred.
In addition to this incident, the police commissioner also paraded over 20 other suspects for various offenses, including armed robbery, kidnapping, and extortion, among others.
As the Plateau State Police Command continues its efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety of its citizens, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding children from sexual abuse and exploitation.
Community members, parents, teachers, and authorities must work together to create a culture of awareness and zero tolerance for sexual violence against minors, ensuring that children are safe and protected from such heinous acts.
The Plateau State Police Command’s swift response and ongoing investigations serve as a testament to their commitment to justice and safety for all residents of the state.
While this incident is a grim reminder of the insidious nature of sexual abuse against minors, it also highlights the need for increased support and resources for survivors and their families.
The trauma and long-term effects of sexual abuse can be devastating, often leading to emotional, psychological, and physical damage that can last a lifetime.
Therefore, it is imperative that the authorities provide survivors and their families with access to appropriate medical, legal, and psychological support to help them heal and move forward from this horrific ordeal.
