A British national, Andrew Wynne, has been branded as a “wanted man” by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for his alleged role in a sinister plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s democratically-elected government through unconstitutional means.
The NPF’s spokesperson, ASP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed that Wynne had set up shop under the guise of “Iva Valley Bookshop” and “STARS of Nations Schools” in Abuja, which were apparently used as fronts for his subversive operations.
Acting on extensive intelligence and collaborating with other security agencies, the NPF carried out a sweeping investigation, arresting nine suspects who had been implicated in the plot and had reportedly received sizable funds from foreign sources.
The suspects were believed to have masterminded violent protests, disseminated misleading information, and engaged in other illegal activities to foment unrest and justify their illicit scheme to topple the government.
The police spokesperson disclosed that Wynne was now a person of interest, stating, “Andrew Wynne, also known as Andrew Povich or Drew Povey, is now a wanted person. The recent turn of events follows the high-profile arrests made by the Department of State Services (DSS) of several Polish individuals during a protest in Kano.
Though Polish officials vehemently denied any involvement of their citizens in the demonstration, where flags were displayed, the individuals were released after weeks of detention.
These occurrences, coupled with the revelation of Wynne’s alleged plot, have cast a suspicious shadow over the presence of foreign nationals within Nigeria.
Comrade Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), was summoned by the police regarding Wynne’s residence at Labour House in Abuja.
