UK Police Arrest Gang Trying To Smuggle Cocaine Into The Country
A group of drug dealers who were active in the community were found guilty and given 71 years in jail after Metropolitan Police investigators conducted a successful investigation.
Their painstaking work stopped tens of millions of pounds’ worth of cocaine from being sold in London and other UK cities. Three men were sentenced on Thursday, September 19, for their membership in an organized crime ring.
The investigation’s lead detective, Detective Inspector Lydia Stephens, praised the cops for their diligent efforts in bringing this group of drug dealers who dealt drugs frequently to justice.
“Our number one goal is to demolish the criminal market, which feeds addiction and frequently results in violence and antisocial behavior, in order to make our streets safer.”
“Criminals looking to profit from the illegal drug trade, we will find you and make sure you face the consequences,” she continued.
The trio was initially brought to the notice of investigators in 2022, when they were building a case against them using cell site analysis and other leads.
During this time, the Met Police claims that a serious scheme to bring a large amount of cocaine into the UK via boat was discovered.
After the ship was thoroughly searched, 350 kg of cocaine wrapped in black plastic and placed within holdalls and bags were found.
On Friday, August 30, the men were found guilty of conspiring to import Class A drugs and were given sentences at Kingston Upon Thames Crown Court.
Kursat Kizilkaya, 33, of Avenue Road, Cornwall, received a 25-year sentence; Stephen Lloyd Jones, 56, of no fixed address, received a 22-year sentence; and Tiamo Zanaj, 33, of no fixed abode, received a 25-year sentence.
