Due to suspected anti-party activities, the Peoples Democratic Party has called for the resignation of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and the former governor of Rivers State. This was announced on Monday by PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary Ibrahim Abdullahi during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily show.

According to Abdullahi, the National Working Committee of the PDP had called Wike via letter to appear before the committee. The committee is chaired by Tom Ikimi. “We established two committees, reconciliation and disciplinary, three weeks ago, and Nyesom Wike is among those facing the disciplinary committee, led by the esteemed Chief Tom Ikimi,” the speaker stated.

“Anti-party activities shall be investigated by the disciplinary committee. Throughout the primary, we have been inundated with petitions alleging anti-party activity and party sabotage, which has brought us to this point.

The committee has received a compilation of these petitions that are directed towards Wike and other party members. “Some party members have been writing to the leadership, feeling that Wike shouldn’t have continued to be a member of the PDP at this level.”

Speaking further, Abdullahi said that it is incorrect and inappropriate for the former governor of Rivers state to have said that PDP governors are “putting fire in their states.”

“Wike needs to be able to control his language; that was a very disappointing remark,” he continued. To be honest with you, we didn’t anticipate him saying that, and we disagree with him on it. Two days prior, Wike had voiced his satisfaction with the Bola Tinubu administration, despite criticism and threats against PDP governors who were backing Rivers State’s Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Abdullahi made this statement.

Speaking to party members on Saturday at the PDP Congress in Port Harcourt, Wike threatened to throw any PDP governor who attempted to meddle in the party’s business in the South-South state into a political crisis.

The minister for the federal capital territory went on to say that anyone who is upset with his role in Tinubu’s administration can go embrace the transformer.
