Role Summary
The Fraud Analyst / Financial Crimes Investigations & Risk Operations Analyst will be responsible for identifying, investigating, and mitigating fraud and financial crime risks across payment, remittance, P2P, and blockchain-enabled platforms. The role supports transaction monitoring, fraud investigations, crypto analysis, dispute handling, and regulatory compliance in line with AML/CFT and sanctions requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Fraud Detection & Transaction Monitoring

Monitor transactions across digital payments, wallets, P2P transfers, remittance, and crypto channels

Review and analyze alerts generated by transaction monitoring and rules-based systems
-
Detect suspicious activities such as account takeover, authorized and unauthorized fraud, velocity abuse, structuring, P2P fraud, and social engineering scams
Financial Crimes Investigations
-
Conduct full-scale investigations into suspected fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, and sanctions breaches

Perform enhanced due diligence (EDD) on high-risk customers and transactions
-
Collect, analyze, and document investigation evidence and outcomes
-
Prepare and submit Suspicious Transaction or Activity Reports (STRs/SARs) when required
Blockchain & Crypto Analysis

Investigate blockchain transactions and trace fund flows using analytics tools
-
Identify exposure to illicit wallets, mixers, darknet markets, scam networks, and ransomware-linked addresses

Support compliance requirements for crypto-enabled and VASP products
P2P Disputes & Chargeback Management

Investigate P2P disputes, chargebacks, and customer complaints
-
Review transaction data, logs, and communication records to recommend fair resolutions

Collaborate with customer support and operations teams to resolve cases efficiently
Compliance & Risk Operations
-
Ensure compliance with AML/CFT laws, sanctions regulations, and internal risk policies
-
Support regulatory audits, examinations, and internal compliance reviews
-
Maintain accurate case management records and investigation documentation
-
Contribute to fraud risk assessments and typology development
Reporting & Continuous Improvement

Prepare regular fraud and risk reports highlighting trends and emerging threats
-
Recommend improvements to fraud detection rules, controls, and prevention strategies
-
Support incident response efforts during major fraud events
Required Qualifications & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Law, Computer Science, or a related discipline
-
4–7+ years’ experience in fraud analysis, financial crime investigations, transaction monitoring, or risk/compliance operations within fintech, banking, PSP, or crypto environments
-
Strong knowledge of AML/CFT regulations, fraud typologies, digital payments risks, and blockchain transaction mechanics
Skills & Competencies

Experience with transaction monitoring and case management systems

Familiarity with blockchain analytics tools such as Chainalysis, TRM, or Elliptic is an advantage
-
Strong analytical, investigative, and pattern-recognition skills
-
High attention to detail, sound judgment, and strong documentation abilities
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of integrity
Certifications (Advantageous)

CAMS, CFE, ICA (AML/Financial Crime), or crypto compliance certifications
Salary
₦250,000 – ₦400,000 per month.
