Job Summary
The Payable Officer will be responsible for managing, validating, and processing all outgoing payments and financial obligations of the company. The role requires a high level of accuracy, strong verification skills, and the ability to ensure that all payments are properly authorized, documented, and settled on time.
Key Responsibilities

Verify the accuracy, authenticity, and completeness of all payment requests before processing

Ensure all supporting documents such as invoices, approvals, memos, and vendor details are properly reviewed and filed

Process vendor payments, staff reimbursements, claims, and other company payables promptly

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all payable transactions

Ensure timely settlement of approved financial obligations

Liaise with vendors, internal departments, and relevant stakeholders to confirm payment details

Reconcile payment records with bank statements and internal financial reports

Identify, flag, and escalate discrepancies, errors, or suspicious transactions for review

Requirements and Skills

HND or B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (minimum of Upper Credit or Second Class Upper Division)

2–4 years of proven experience as a Payable Officer or in a similar accounts payable role

Strong analytical and verification skills with excellent attention to detail

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic accounting software/tools

Strong communication, record-keeping, and documentation skills

Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
