Enugu East Local Government Awards Full Scholarships to 15 Students, Partners With Maduka University
Enugu East Local Government Council has formally presented 15 students to Maduka University, Enugu, as beneficiaries of its latest full scholarship initiative aimed at strengthening educational development across the region. The beneficiaries, selected for high-demand disciplines such as medicine and engineering, were received on campus during an official welcome ceremony facilitated by the university’s management.
The scholarship programme, instituted under the leadership of the Chairman of Enugu East Local Government, Engr. Pastor Beloved-Dan Obi Anike, also includes one additional beneficiary admitted to Baze University, Abuja. According to the council, the initiative reflects an ongoing commitment to improving the human capital index of the local government by enabling promising students to pursue globally relevant academic and professional skills.
While addressing the students during the reception, Engr. Anike reiterated the council’s position that strategic investment in education remains central to empowering young people and positioning them for local and international opportunities. He explained that the focus on medicine, engineering, and related fields was deliberate, as these areas are projected to dominate the labour market in the coming decades.

“We are committed to increasing the Human Capital Index of Enugu East LGA by investing in high-demand skills and academic courses that will position our youths for global competitiveness,” Anike stated. He further encouraged the students to approach their studies with discipline, noting that their performance would shape future scholarship allocations.
Maduka University, which commenced academic operations with an emphasis on technology-driven learning and research, welcomed the students as part of its broader partnership with public institutions seeking to expand educational access. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Uzodimma Ogbulogo, received the delegation and pledged the university’s full support to the scholarship recipients. Professor Ogbulogo advised the beneficiaries to take advantage of the resources available to them, adding that students admitted through scholarship schemes often set high standards in academic performance when adequately supported. “We are pleased to welcome these students to Maduka University.
