Hon. Sarah Ivie Adidi Receives “Her Excellence Award” During International Women’s Day Event in Abuja
A development economist and youth advocate, Sarah Ivie Adidi, has been honoured with the 2026 “Her Excellence Award” during an event celebrating International Women’s Day in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja.
The recognition came during the “Her Excellence Conference & Award 2026,” a gathering that brought together notable female leaders, professionals, and advocates from different sectors of society. The event was organised to celebrate women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and impact in their respective fields.
Adidi was among 50 distinguished women honoured at the ceremony, which took place at the Wells Carlton Hotel & Apartments in the Asokoro district of Abuja.
The award ceremony formed part of activities marking International Women’s Day 2026, an annual global event that recognises the achievements of women while also promoting gender equality and empowerment.
Adidi, who is widely known for her advocacy work among youth and women, is also a political aspirant seeking to represent the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency of the Federal Capital Territory in the House of Representatives of Nigeria in the 2027 general elections.
She is expected to contest under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Supporters say the recognition further highlights her growing influence within youth and civic engagement spaces in Abuja and beyond. Many of her supporters also argue that her professional background and advocacy experience make her well-positioned to contribute meaningfully to legislative work if elected.
Adidi currently serves as Programme Coordinator in the statistics department of a leading development finance institution. According to her supporters, her work involves policy analysis, development programmes, and data-driven initiatives aimed at improving governance and development outcomes.
They believe that such experience could be particularly useful in addressing the needs of the AMAC/Bwari constituency, which is considered one of the most diverse areas within the Federal Capital Territory.
The constituency includes a mixture of urban communities in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and rural settlements within Bwari Area Council, making it one of the more complex districts to represent politically.
Observers say that the recognition at the Her Excellence Conference could further boost Adidi’s visibility as political activities gradually begin to build toward Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
The event itself attracted female leaders from various sectors including politics, business, civil society, and public service, all of whom were recognised for contributions to leadership, advocacy, and national development.
International Women’s Day, celebrated annually on March 8, is widely observed around the world and provides an opportunity to highlight achievements made by women while encouraging continued progress toward gender equality.
