Lagos Father Demands Justice After Nine-Month-Old Twin Boys Allegedly Die Following Routine Immunisation
A grieving father in Lagos State, Mr. Samuel Alozie, is seeking justice following the alleged deaths of his nine-month-old identical twin sons, Testimony and Timothy, who reportedly passed away less than 24 hours after receiving routine immunisation at a government-owned primary health care (PHC) centre.
The tragic incident, which occurred during the Christmas period, has drawn widespread attention after Alozie shared an emotional video on TikTok showing the twins’ remains wrapped in body bags. The footage quickly circulated on social media, sparking outrage, sympathy, and intense debate over vaccine safety, healthcare standards, and accountability in Nigeria’s public health system.
According to Alozie, the twins were taken to the PHC centre for routine immunisation despite being healthy and showing no signs of illness prior to the visit. He explained that the decision was based on following standard medical advice and ensuring the children remained protected against preventable diseases.
“They were strong and sound. I took them for immunisation not because they were sick, but because it was the right thing to do,” he said.
Alozie alleged that shortly after receiving the injections, both children became weak and lethargic. He said he followed the post-immunisation instructions given by the attending nurse, including administering paracetamol to manage possible side effects such as fever. However, their condition reportedly did not improve.

“After the injection, they became very weak. We gave them paracetamol as instructed, but nothing changed. By the next morning, both of them were gone,” he said, adding that the twins died on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025.
The father has expressed deep concern about the circumstances surrounding the deaths and has questioned claims reportedly made by the health care centre that the incident may have been caused by food-related bacteria. He rejected this explanation, insisting that the twins had not consumed anything unusual and had no prior medical conditions that could explain such a sudden outcome.
Alozie also raised fears about the credibility of any internal investigation, noting that the facility involved is a government-owned health centre. He said he is worried that the outcome could be influenced or manipulated, leaving him without closure or justice.
“I cannot afford to pursue justice alone, and I am also scared I may not get justice,” he said. “I need justice for them.”
The incident has reignited public debate over the quality of healthcare services in Lagos and across Nigeria, particularly at the primary healthcare level where millions of Nigerians access basic medical services. Social media users and commentators have expressed mixed reactions, ranging from calls for immediate accountability to caution against drawing conclusions before a thorough investigation is completed.
Some health professionals and members of the public have argued that vaccines administered at PHC centres are typically given to many children on the same day, making it unlikely that immunisation alone would affect only two children without similar cases emerging. Medical experts have repeatedly emphasized that adverse events following immunisation, while rare, should always be investigated through proper clinical reviews and autopsy reports to establish the exact cause of death.
