Lagos Government Moves to Locate Survivor Featured in Viral Sexual Assault Video
The Lagos State Government has begun efforts to locate and assist a young woman featured in a viral social media video in which she narrated an alleged sexual assault incident at her residence. Authorities say the move is part of a broader commitment to address gender-based violence and ensure survivors receive prompt support and protection.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) confirmed that it is actively investigating the claims made in the video and is working to identify and reach the survivor. According to the agency, the goal is to provide immediate intervention, ensure her safety, and connect her with appropriate professional care services, including medical and psychological support.
The agency also called on members of the public who may have credible information regarding the survivor’s whereabouts to come forward through its verified communication channels. “The Lagos State Government maintains a zero-tolerance stance against all forms of domestic and sexual violence,” the agency said in its statement. “Sexual assault is a crime, and every survivor deserves protection, care, support, and justice. We encourage survivors to speak up and assure the public that all reports are treated with urgency and confidentiality.”
