Speaking after the match, Jimoh-Aloba described the experience as the proudest moment of his young career so far. He highlighted the personal importance of the goal, noting that his family was in attendance on a night he will remember for a long time.
“It’s a proud moment for me on my European debut,” he said. “Really nice to make my family proud. I’ve had a lot of highs and lows this season, but this is right at the top. My mum is in the stand somewhere.”
Born to Nigerian heritage, Jimoh-Aloba has steadily progressed through the English football system. He joined Aston Villa from West Bromwich Albion in 2023 at just 16 years old, having already represented England at Under-16 and Under-17 levels. His development accelerated rapidly, and in October 2024 he signed a long-term contract with Villa, signalling the club’s belief in his potential.
The midfielder was also part of the Aston Villa youth team that lifted the FA Youth Cup last season, scoring in the final against Manchester City. That success laid the groundwork for his transition into senior football. He made his senior debut in the Carabao Cup against Wycombe Wanderers and followed it up with his Premier League debut against Arsenal, further underlining the club’s confidence in him.
The goal against Salzburg marked his first in a major European competition and made him the fourth-youngest scorer for Aston Villa in Europe, a notable achievement in the club’s history.
Teammate Morgan Rogers, who previously shared academy experience with Jimoh-Aloba at West Brom, praised the teenager’s attitude and work ethic.
