ADC Declares Plan to Unseat APC in Yobe and Nationwide Ahead of 2027 Elections
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced its determination to challenge the dominance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State and at the national level ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections. Party leaders say the move is part of a broader strategy to reposition the ADC as a viable political alternative capable of reshaping Nigeria’s political landscape.
The declaration was made by Adamu Waziri, a former Minister of Police Affairs and a leading figure within the ADC in Yobe State, during the commissioning of the party’s zonal and local government secretariats in Damaturu, Tarmuwa, and Bursari Local Government Areas. According to Waziri, the establishment of new party offices across the state reflects a renewed commitment to strengthening grassroots structures and mobilizing support ahead of future elections.
Waziri explained that the commissioning of the secretariats is part of a comprehensive effort to expand the party’s presence at the local level and engage communities more effectively. He emphasized that the ADC is working to present itself as a credible alternative to the APC by focusing on policy-based engagement, grassroots outreach, and institutional strengthening.
“Our party is determined to challenge the status quo and, by God’s grace, we are going to change it,” Waziri stated while addressing party members and supporters. “We are laying the groundwork across Yobe and beyond. This marks a new chapter for politics in the state.”

According to him, the party intends to focus on issues such as governance reform, economic development, and youth empowerment as part of its campaign strategy.
Waziri also revealed that the ADC is preparing for a nationwide membership registration and validation exercise expected to begin within two weeks.
