ADC Blames Tinubu Over Kwara Killings as Political Tensions Rise Nationwide
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the killing of about 170 people in Kwara State, describing the incident as one of the deadliest attacks in recent times and a sign of deepening insecurity across Nigeria. The opposition party blamed President Bola Tinubu’s administration for what it called a failure to effectively protect citizens, raising fresh concerns about the country’s security architecture.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party expressed outrage over the killings in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State. The ADC said the massacre demonstrated that current efforts by the Federal Government to address insecurity were not yielding meaningful results.
According to the statement, the scale of the attack and the reported death toll showed that government strategies were either insufficient or poorly implemented. The party questioned the effectiveness of the state of emergency on security declared by President Tinubu in November 2025, as well as the administration’s promise to recruit thousands of additional police officers to strengthen security nationwide.
“The African Democratic Congress condemns in the strongest possible terms the recent killing of about 170 innocent Nigerians in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State,” the statement said. It described the incident as a painful reminder of what it termed systemic security lapses across the country.

The statement further emphasized that protecting lives and property remains the primary responsibility of any government. It argued that continued large-scale attacks without decisive preventive measures undermine public confidence in national leadership and security institutions.
