Massive Crowd in Osogbo as ADC Concludes Federal Constituency Tour
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) witnessed a significant show of public support in Osogbo on Tuesday as thousands of residents participated in the final leg of the party’s federal constituency tour across Osun State. The event, which drew artisans, market women, youths, students, community leaders, and party loyalists, highlighted a renewed wave of grassroots interest in the party ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The concluding rally, held at the Technical College ground, followed a courtesy visit to the Ataoja of Osogboland, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun (Larooye II). The atmosphere in the city was charged as crowds lined the streets from the palace to the rally venue, forming long processions and chanting in support of the ADC’s leadership and direction.
The tour was led by former Osun State Governor and current ADC National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, whose presence drew significant attention from the public. Addressing the rally, Aregbesola thanked the people of Osogbo and the wider Osun community for their sustained loyalty. He expressed strong concerns about the state of governance at both federal and state levels, citing insecurity, economic deterioration, and widespread hardship as key drivers of public frustration.

According to Aregbesola, Nigerians across the country have become increasingly resolved to vote out what he described as an incompetent government. He argued that the ADC represents a credible alternative capable of delivering purposeful leadership rooted in development-focused governance. He emphasized that his party was committed to offering a government “of vision, mission and direction,” aimed at uplifting ordinary citizens and revitalizing sectors that he said have been neglected.
Aregbesola also used the opportunity to urge citizens to take part actively in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR). He stressed that political transformation can only occur when eligible voters ensure they are registered and prepared to express their choices at the ballot box.
Earlier in the day, at the Ataoja’s palace, Oba Olanipekun voiced strong support for Aregbesola’s political efforts. The monarch recalled the developmental strides recorded during Aregbesola’s administration between 2010 and 2018, describing Osogbo as a beneficiary of substantial transformation during that period. He affirmed the commitment of Osogbo residents to the ADC’s political mission, pledging continued support in the buildup to the 2026 elections.
Several prominent party leaders and chieftains also addressed the crowd. Speakers including Dr. Charles Omidiji, Alhaji Azeez Adesiji, Senator Felix Ogunwale, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, and former Speaker Dr. Najeem Salaam called for intensified grassroots mobilisation. They argued that the ADC remains the only party with the moral clarity and organizational strength to steer Osun and Nigeria away from what they described as a period of national decline.
Other notable personalities present included Engr. Jide Adeniji, Alhaji Rasaq Salinsile, Revd. Adelowo Adebiyi, Senator Adelere Oriolowo, and Mr. Jide Bewaji, all of whom reaffirmed confidence in the direction the party is taking.
The Osogbo rally capped a series of constituency engagements across the state. According to party insiders, each stop of the tour recorded overwhelming attendance, signalling what they believe to be a rising appetite for political change among Osun residents.
Online reactions also reflected public sentiment, with commenters describing the turnout as evidence of widespread economic frustration and growing political awareness. Several opinions pointed to hunger, inflation, and insecurity as critical issues shaping public mood, with commentators urging Nigerians to remain unified and informed as election cycles draw closer.
