Job Title: People & Culture Manager
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Work Model: Hybrid (2 days per week in-office)
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Role Overview
The People & Culture Manager will play a central role in building, structuring, and formalising Pika’s people operations. This position is responsible for designing clear people policies, strengthening compliance, and supporting the transition of contract-based roles to full-time employment where appropriate.
The role also involves advising leadership on compliant and practical engagement models for field-based contract agents who work directly with retailers. A strong balance of operational efficiency, legal compliance, and fairness is required. Beyond policies and processes, the successful candidate will actively protect and nurture Pika’s warm, welcoming, and values-led culture as the organisation grows.
Core Objectives
Formalise people and culture structures across the organisation.
Ensure people operations are compliant, scalable, and aligned with Nigeria’s labour laws and tax reforms effective January 2026.
Design compliant engagement models for contract agents operating in the field.
Build and sustain a healthy, inclusive, and high-trust working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement people and culture policies, including employment contracts, employee handbooks, performance management systems, and disciplinary processes.
Lead the transition of eligible contract-based roles to full-time employment, ensuring proper documentation, benefits, and compliance.
Advise leadership on appropriate engagement models for field agents, including contract terms, risk mitigation, and legal considerations.
Ensure compliance with statutory employment obligations, working closely with Finance and external advisors where required.
Partner with Finance to align payroll inputs, engagement models, and people operations with Nigeria’s tax reforms effective January 2026.
Establish clear onboarding, probation, confirmation, and exit processes for all employment and contractor categories.
Serve as a trusted point of contact for employee and contractor relations, workplace concerns, and people-related guidance.
Support managers with performance management, feedback processes, and team development initiatives.
Embed and protect Pika’s values-driven, welcoming culture as the company scales.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in people and culture or HR roles, preferably within a growing or scaling organisation.
Strong understanding of labour laws, contractor engagement, and people operations.
Experience managing or advising on contract-based or field-agent workforces.
Proven ability to collaborate with finance teams on payroll, benefits, and tax-related matters.
Comfortable building structure in fast-paced and evolving environments.
Approachable, empathetic, and trusted, with a strong sense of fairness and professionalism.
